Archive

We have been archiving media that matters to us and wish to share both the material as well as our thoughts on why the media felt like it was important for us to preserve. The media on this page are works we consider to be our muses in some way, shape or form. All game recommendation links will lead to the steam storefront version of said games. All fanfiction recommendation links will lead to Archive of Our Own. All manga/book recommendations will lead to wherever we can find a way for you to read them online.

Games

Nier Replicant/Gestalt (2021 Remake/2010 Release) + Nier: Automata (2017) We adore these games to pieces. Our absolute favourite being the 2010 Playstation 3 release of Nier. These games have fundementally changed the way we look at games as a medium for storytelling. We very much aspire to be able to emotionally destroy someone in the way that the Nier games manage to achieve, to make something memorable that will haunt you for a lifetime in the best way possible. If you like hack and slash jrpgs, these two games are definitely on the shorter side but don't overstay their welcome. The Nier franchise also has a lot of content outside of the games to sink your teeth into once you finish the games. Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne (2021 Remaster) SMT 3 is our favourite Shin Megami Tensei game we have played, though we hope to play more of the mainline games as well as the spin-offs in the future. But for now, SMT 3 sits on top as our favourite. We like the press-turn system, we love the worldbuilding and the way the main character cannot influence the creation of a new universe himself but needs to choose who's vision to support.

Persona 4 Golden (2020 Steam Version) Persona 4 Golden's fictional setting of Inaba was the direct inspiration for the valley in Re:Imagine. We love this game to pieces and is definitely one of our comfort games. We play it when we feel alone or depressed and it never fails to make us feel better. This is our favourite entry in the modern Persona franchise, we have played Persona 5 Royal but the characters, setting and atmosphere didn't hold a candle to Persona 4 Golden in our eyes. This game has a lot of problems, but we love it despite its flaws. The planned remake for this game is coming out at some point and is said to address some of the issues we have with it so maybe this entry might be replaced by the remake in future.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony (2017) Danganronpa V3 was our first real game that got us into a fandom, and it also helped spark our love for writing and storytelling after giving up on it since starting highschool.

Signalis (2022) Signalis is an old-resident-evil style survival horror featuring lesbian androids.

Missed Messages (2019) Missed messages is a really short, free game with a beautiful artstyle which we highly recommend people play.

If Found... (2020) If Found is a beautiful scrapbook story about being trans and coming out. We loved this game for how relatable it was.

Manga

Emanon (2008) Emanon is a manga that really intrigued us when we first read it.

Fire Punch (2016) Fire Punch is incredible. It holds a similar place in our heart to Yoko Taro's works Drakengard & Nier. Tatsuki Fujimoto writes intriguing scinearos with whacky, loose worlbuilding that doesn't detract from the main point of the work and the ideas behind the core concept.

Transjitter (2018) This managa was powerful, its cancelled so we will never see how it continued but the portrayal of a character suffering inside the wrong body was something hugely important for us to see as a system that identifies as transgender.

Teppuu (2008) Teppuu

Books

Loveless by Alice Oseman (2020) Loveless is one of our favourite books. It features an AroAce protagonist that is questioning her feelings about romance. It feels nice to have some representation in media. We loved the way it was written, it really feels just like reading fanfiction.

Skullduggery Pleasant Series by Derek Landy (2007-2026) The Skullduggery Pleasant books were a huge inspiration for us as pre-teens growing up and was a huge reason as to why we wanted to write long form novels when we first started writing. We later realised that even though we love the urban fantasy genre, we weren't very suited for long form fiction and switching to short stories was a lot better for us.

The Scapegracers Trilogy (2020-2024) Say what you want about the books, we love lesbian witches. This book series sparked so much joy for us and became a core reason why we wanted to write witchcraft and witches into our stories.

Ramona Blue (2017) Ramona blue was a good read, it helped inspire us to flesh out Lillith from Bittersweet some more.

Fanfiction

Worthy by EHC (2018-2020) Worthy holds an incredibly dear spot in our heart. It's a Life is Strange, Dom/sub fanfic about Max Caufield discovering herself and dealing with her issues of self-worth and identity. We still hold out hope to this day that this fanfic can be continued but it looks like EHC has moved on to different fandoms.

13: Not so Unlucky Anymore by EHC (2019) This fic really hits that sweet spot of a poly-soulmates story with all the fluff and love in the universe on display.

Memories of the City (2014-2017) We really hope if god is real that this will be updated. The slow regression of Yu as he grows up and away from those sunny days in Inaba and realises the world is cold and grey in a way he never knew.
